A little history
Two small polished stone axes, most probably votive, found in the avenue de Lyon, and a gold coin of the Bituriges, on the heights of Chazeuil, attest that man lived on the site from the Gaulish period. Some have believed they could see evidence of a Celtic-period settlement in the presence of an old well near the current cemetery and in the mound on which the old parish church once stood. Vestiges have been found, including the remains of a bridge over the Allier dated to the 3rd century AD.
