Villeneuve-sur-Aisne is a French commune situated in the département of Aisne, in the Hauts-de-France region. The new French commune was created on 1 January 2019 from the merger of the communes of Guignicourt and Menneville. Its administrative centre is established at Guignicourt.
A little history
The municipal councils of Menneville and Guignicourt, following a public meeting held on 13 September 2018, requested on 17 and 19 September 2018 the merger of their communes in a context of declining financial transfers from the State. The merger was thus decided by a prefectoral order of 29 November 2018, which took effect on 1 January 2019.
