A little history
The most important and oldest remains discovered in the canton of Hirson, those of Macquenoise and Mondrepuis (known as du Catelet), reveal the presence of two ancient camps. The second is certainly of Celtic origin of the éperon barré type (visible in aerial photographs of the site). Lithic material was discovered on the territory of the commune of Hirson. The Nervi peopled what are now the département du Nord and Belgian Hainaut.
