Carte de Cassini The Carte de Cassini shows that in the 18th century, Gauchy, written Gaulchy, was a parish situated on the right bank of the Somme. No metalled road passed through the village. Two wooden footbridges allowed the branches of the Somme to be crossed. To the north-east, l'Abbiette was a hamlet situated in the vicinity of the current Groupe sportif.
