A little history
The topography of the town makes it an exceptional defensive site which, however, also creates a hiatus between the upper town centre, seat of power, and its suburbs. The upper town probably experienced a small Neolithic occupation around 3000 BC. On the other hand, no trace of a Bronze Age or Iron Age site has been discovered until now.
