A little history
A Roman and Burgundian villa, which appears to have persisted into the Frankish period, was built in Allobroges territory occupied by the Romans between the 1st century BC and the 1st century AD. It was situated on a secondary Roman road which, from Annemasse, allowed travellers to head up towards the Chablais. Three stones engraved with Latin inscriptions survive from this period.
