Chamonix-Mont-Blanc (pronounced [ ʃa.mɔ.ˈni mɔ̃ blɑ̃]) or Chamonix in its shortened form, or even Cham' in the familiar local form, is a French mountain commune situated in the département of Haute-Savoie, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The commune of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc covers, from north to south, sixteen villages or hamlets, le Tour, Montroc, le Planet, Argentière, les Chosalets, la Joux, le Lavancher, les Tines, les Bois, les Praz de Chamonix, Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, les Pècles, les Mouilles, les Barrats, les Pélerins, les Gaillands and les Bossons.
A little history
The history of the village of Chamonix was built around both its exceptional geographical situation and the domination that the house of Savoie exercised over this territory for several centuries. This section covers the most significant periods and historical events in the commune's past. Before the town of Chamonix came into existence, the territory it now occupies was an uninhabited and hostile land due to its mountain climate and geographical situation. However, although these lands were uninhabited, they were successively held by different peoples. The Celts were the first to occupy the region in the 5th century BC.

Selling in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc
Pricing in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc starts by placing your property inside the €7,857 to €11,157 band rather than on the median alone. The median describes the middle of the market; condition, floor, outdoor space and energy rating decide where in the band you sit.
With 316 sales a year, Chamonix-Mont-Blanc absorbs correctly priced properties. An over-ambitious price shows quickly, because buyers have points of comparison.
Briveo values your Chamonix-Mont-Blanc property from the same DVF file, keeping only sales of comparable properties closest to your address, free of charge and with no obligation, then supports the sale through to the deed.
Buying in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc
Reading the €7,857 to €11,157 band is a buyer’s main tool in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc. A property at the bottom is not a bargain and one at the top is not a rip-off, the band measures how different the properties are, not how well they are priced.
Acquisition costs are budgeted on top of the price, around 8 % on an existing property, around 3 % on a new one. These are orders of magnitude; the notary computes the exact amount.
Prices moving up narrow the room for negotiation without closing it, a property that has been on the market a long time is negotiable whatever the trend says.
