Vailly-sur-Aisne [vɛli syʁ ɛn] is a French commune situated in the département of l'Aisne, in the région of Hauts-de-France.
A little history
Traces of human life were found in the commune, including mammoth teeth and tusks, which can be seen at the musée Saint-Remi de Reims. Vailly-sur-Aisne has a long history. Founded by Gauls, it witnessed the passage of Jules César and endured Gallo-Roman cohabitation (remains of the substructures of baths and a villa were found to the north of the town) until the advance into the Soissons region of the troops of Mérovée, grandfather of Clovis Ier. Soissons became the capital of the Franks.
