Two Middle Neolithic pile-dwelling settlements at Les Choseaux (4330–4000 BC) and at Les Charrières are attested by a great many piles driven into the silt. Another settlement covers the crêt de Chatillon 800 m from the shore, a submerged islet occupied by a village of bronze workers and potters between 1050 and 800 BC.
