Saint-Yorre is a rural French commune situated in the south-east of the département of l'Allier, in the region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. The commune is known for its mineral water. A member of the communauté d'agglomération Vichy Communauté, of the unité urbaine and of the aire d'attraction de Vichy, it has a population of 2,641 inhabitants as of 2023, known as the Saint-Yorrais and the Saint-Yorraises.
A little history
Before 1789, the commune formed part of the territory of the Bourbonnais. A priory was mentioned in the 8th century. Throughout the 2nd millennium and up until the 1950s and 1960s, the hills around Vichy were covered with vines. The parish of Saint-Yorre appears to have grown up around a mill at the lieu-dit Villa Moulin.
