Saint-Sulpice-la-Pointe, formerly called Saint-Sulpice and in Occitan Sant Somplesi, is a French commune situated in the département of Tarn, in the région of Occitanie. From a historical and cultural standpoint, the commune lies within the Lauragais, the former "Pays de Cocagne", linked both to the cultivation of pastel and to the abundance of its produce, and known as the "grenier à blé du Languedoc". Exposed to an altered oceanic climate, it is drained by the Agout, the Tarn, the ruisseau de Sieurac, the ruisseau de Sézy, the ruisseau de Toupiac and by various other small watercourses.

A little history

Saint-Sulpice d'Albigeois belonged to the counts of Toulouse. One of them gave it, before the end of the 12th century, to the abbaye d'Aurillac, as is recorded in a deed of confirmation issued in 1234 by count Raymond VII de Toulouse. Géraud, abbot of Aurillac, enfeoffed it to Dieudonné d'Alaman in 1200. Sicard Alaman, governor of the domain of the last two counts of Toulouse, subsequently became lord of Saint-Sulpice.
