A little history
Traces of a Gallo-Roman settlement exist in historical texts. Excavations carried out on the site of the abbaye Saint-Michel confirm these accounts. At the time, it was probably no more than a villa, the local town of that era being situated on the opposite bank of the Tarn, in the oppidum de Montans. On that site, potters' workshops have been unearthed.
