Riols [ʁi.ɔls] (en occitan Riòls [ri.'ɔls]) est une commune française située dans l'ouest du département de l'Hérault, en région Occitanie. Exposée à un climat méditerranéen, elle est drainée par l'Arn, le Jaur, le ruisseau de Bureau, le ruisseau de Cassillac, le ruisseau de Fonclare, le ruisseau du Saut et par divers autres petits cours d'eau. Incluse dans le parc naturel régional du Haut-Languedoc, la commune possède un patrimoine naturel remarquable, un site Natura 2000 (la « vallée de l'Arn »), un espace protégé (le « tourbières de Somail ») et cinq zones naturelles d'intérêt écologique, faunistique et floristique.
