A little history
In 637, King Dagobert (629 - 639) is said to have given his Reuilly domains to the abbaye de Saint-Denis-en-France. A document exists to that effect, which would indeed refer to Reuilly in Indre, and not to one of the other places in the northern half of France bearing the name Reuilly, as this manuscript associates Reuilly (Ruilliacum) with other places in Berry. The authenticity of this document has been called into question on grounds of style and date, but Reuilly is thought to have been attached to the abbaye de Saint-Denis at the end of the 10th century. Reuilly was a religious seigneury until the Revolution.
