Levroux [ləvʁu] is a new commune situated in the département of Indre, in the Centre-Val de Loire region, created on 1 January 2016. Exposed to an altered oceanic climate, it is drained by the Trégonce, the Céphons, the Lamps and various other small watercourses. The commune possesses a natural zone of ecological, faunal and floral interest.
A little history
The site was excavated from 1968 under the direction of Olivier Buchsenschutz. From the beginning of La Tène C2, the village, situated in the present-day quartier des Arènes, was densely populated. It is a lowland settlement, a type that developed across Europe during the 2nd century BC.
