Déols ([deɔl]) is a French commune situated in the département of Indre, in the Centre-Val de Loire region. Exposed to an altered oceanic climate, it is drained by the Indre, the Ringoire, the ruisseau la Ringoire and various other small watercourses. The commune possesses a remarkable natural heritage composed of one Natura 2000 site and three natural areas of ecological, faunal and floral interest.
A little history
The earliest traces of human presence on the plateau to the north of Châteauroux date back to the Lower Palaeolithic period, in the form of handaxes and a scraper. The Middle Palaeolithic is represented in a residual state in the form of a Mousterian of Acheulean Tradition. In the Upper Palaeolithic, the first pseudo-concentrations appear, generally on low sandy rises distributed uniformly across the entire plateau.
