A little history
The site of Poisy appears to have been occupied as early as the Gallo-Roman period. The Romans also built wide cobbled roads to serve the villas (large rural estates) of Brassily, founded by the Roman general Brassilius, and Marny, founded by the Roman Mariniacus. The great invasions are attested by four groups of Burgundian tombs which were uncovered between 1873 and 1950, in the Vernod area. In the 19th century, a Burgundian treasure from the 3rd century was found, comprising a bronze bell, as well as flanged tiles and agricultural tools.
