Exposed to an altered oceanic climate, it is drained by the Tarn, the ruisseau de Coules, the ruisseau de la Baïsse and various other small watercourses.
A little history
The village of Lescure-d'Albigeois developed around a castrum situated on the right bank of the Tarn. The first document mentioning the name "Lescure" to designate this place dates from 1012, and the feudal castle belonged at that time to King Robert II before he donated it to his former tutor, the monk Gerbert d'Aurillac (known by the name of Sylvestre II when he became pope in 999). This fort then became a "pontifical fief" dependent on the Holy See. This feudal castle, situated at the gates of Albi, occupied an important strategic position at that time.
