La Ferté-Milon is a French commune situated in the département de l'Aisne in the région Hauts-de-France, known for being the birthplace of Jean Racine.
A little history
La Ferté-Milon was one of the principal châtellenies of the duché de Valois. It was part of the arrondissement de Château-Thierry until 1926, when it was attached to the arrondissement de Soissons, before returning to that of Château-Thierry in 1942. It absorbed its neighbour, Saint-Quentin-sur-Allan, in 1960. By prefectoral order of 20 December 2016, the commune was detached on 1 January 2017 from the arrondissement de Château-Thierry to join the arrondissement de Soissons.
