Huriel is a French commune, situated in the Allier département in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Its inhabitants are called Huriélois and Huriéloises.
A little history
Adélaïs d'Huriel (around 1040 to after 1097), daughter of Humbaud, seigneur d'Huriel and of Dèce de Bourbon, married Rainaud III d'Aubusson (around 1025 to 30 March 1069). Rainaud III d'Aubusson restored the monastery of Roseilles to the collegiate church of Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche. Huriel is a former walled town and barony, which was once a strategic military site used by the Bourbons. The commune retains two vestiges of its history today, a seigneurial keep and a church, formerly the seat of a Benedictine priory.
