Exposed to an altered oceanic climate, it is drained by the Egoutier and two small watercourses. Fleury-les-Aubrais is an urban commune with 21,804 inhabitants in 2023, having experienced a sharp rise in population since 1962.
A little history
A number of monks from the Benedictine abbey of Fleury (Saint-Benoît-sur-Loire) came to settle to the north of Orléans by establishing a chapel at Fleury. The decree of the Assemblée Nationale of 12 November 1789 decreed that there would be a municipality in every town, borough, parish or rural community. In 1790, as part of the creation of the départements, the Loiret comprised 367 municipalities, attached to 59 cantons and 7 districts. The municipality of Fleury was attached to the canton of Fleury and to the district of Orléans.
