A little history
In 1856, the grotte du dragon de Béraire, a natural underground cavity that appeared during the Holocene, was discovered by the archaeologist Ernest Pillon. During the 20th century, several prehistoric sites (Upper Palaeolithic, Magdalenian culture) were discovered at the lieu-dit Monteloup. The site yielded Magdalenian human remains. A series of occupations yielded lithic industry typical of the Badegoulian with raclettes, alongside pieces of more recent workmanship (Magdalenian).
