A little history
Known as Athos in the Celtic period, it took the name of Saint-Jean following the construction of the first church. De la Ruelle was added because the church was accessed via a ruelle. The decree of the Assemblée Nationale of 12 November 1789 decreed that there would be a municipality in every town, borough, parish or rural community. In 1790, as part of the creation of the départements, the Loiret then comprised 367 municipalities, attached to 59 cantons and 7 districts.
