Dun (Dun in Languedocian Occitan) is a French commune, situated in the north-east of the département of Ariège in the Occitanie region. From a historical and cultural standpoint, the commune forms part of the pays d'Olmes, a renowned setting of the Cathar tragedy combining landscapes of extreme diversity. Exposed to a modified oceanic climate, it is drained by the Crieu, the Douctouyre, the ruisseau de Senesse, the ruisseau de Ternesse and by various other small watercourses.
A little history
On 1st January 1973, the communes of Merviel, Engraviès and Senesse-de-Senabugue were attached to Dun. They retained the status of associated communes until 2003.
