A little history
Originally, the hamlet of Bézenais was part of the commune of Montvicq. Around 1622, it comprised around ten household "feux" of labourers and was located at what is now the lieu-dit le Village. Two other notable areas of habitation existed. One, on the current place de l'Église, consisted of multi-storey houses whose gardens were surrounded by walls. The other, more substantial, at la Verzelle, encompassed various activities including inns, craftsmen and shops. The other lieux-dits making up the present-day commune of Bézenet were sparsely populated.
