Anizy-le-Grand is a French commune situated in the département of Aisne in the région of Hauts-de-France. The new commune, with the administrative status of commune nouvelle, was created on 1st January 2019 from the merger of the communes of Anizy-le-Château, Faucoucourt and Lizy. Its chef-lieu is set at Anizy-le-Château.
A little history
A process of reflection was initiated at the beginning of 2018 by the mayor of Anizy-le-Château with a view to merging his commune with Pinon, from which it is separated by the Ailette. The communes of Faucoucourt and Lizy joined this process of reflection and Pinon withdrew from it. The merger between Anizy-le-Château, Faucoucourt and Lizy took place at the request of the three municipal councils on 12th and 13th June 2018, allowing the creation of the commune nouvelle of Anizy-le-Grand by a prefectoral order which took effect on 1st January 2019. The three former communes each then became a commune déléguée of Anizy-le-Grand.
