A little history
Vitry-aux-Loges, by virtue of its position in the forêt d'Orléans, served as a royal residence for hunting from the year one thousand. Indeed, the forêt d'Orléans constitutes a royal forest in which Charlemagne's son, Louis le Débonnaire, was the first king to hunt. After the destruction of the royal lodgings during the Norman invasions, a feudal castle was then built.
