Villecresnes is a French commune situated in the south-east of the Val-de-Marne département, in the Île-de-France region. Its inhabitants are called the Villecresnois.
A little history
It is in a donation made in 1097 at Corbeil, in favour of the abbaye de Saint-Martin-des-Champs, that mention is made for the first time of a certain Waldricus, an inhabitant of the Villa Crana. There is no doubt that the first dwellings of Villecresnes were built in the woods or on their edges. Polished flint weapons found in 1894 by a farmer in his field attest that prehistoric people walked the soil of Villecresnes. Before and during the Hundred Years War, its history is linked to that of the abbaye d'Yerres and to that of Brunoy. Following the traité de Troyes, which handed France over to the English, silence fell upon this region.
