A little history
In the Gallo-Roman period, the territory was crossed by major roads. The village was an important centre from before the 11th century. From this first Gallo-Roman period, only buried remains survive, but the Middle Ages and the Renaissance left behind buildings, the church and the priory from the 11th and 15th centuries. The château de la ville au Fourrier was built in 1265 by the knight Geoffroy le Fourrier, who added his name to the commune. The château de la Roche dates from the 15th century. The logis de Poligny and the seigneurial house with a chapel from the 15th century also remain.
