Vendargues is a French commune situated in the east of the département of Hérault in the région of Occitanie. The town is situated to the east of Montpellier in the direction of Lunel. Exposed to a Mediterranean climate, it is drained by the Salaison, the Cadoule and the ruisseau de la Balaurie.
A little history
Before the creation of the first dwellings in Vendargues, the territory of the present-day commune was crossed by the voie Domitienne. This straight road served as a reference for Roman surveyors to divide the land into plots known as centuries. It was on one of these centuries that Vénérianicus is said to have had a villa built. Furthermore, archaeological discoveries in the present-day Jardin Serre tend to prove that the first dwellings were located in the vicinity of this spot.
