Valencisse is a new commune, situated in the département of Loir-et-Cher in the région of Centre-Val de Loire, created on 1 January 2016. It was formed by the merger of two communes, Molineuf and Orchaise, which became "communes déléguées", and was joined the following year by the commune of Chambon-sur-Cisse. Its chef-lieu is set at Molineuf.
A little history
The new commune of Valencisse, created in 2016, is the combination of the present-day communes déléguées of Chambon-sur-Cisse, an ancient Gaulish village that later developed around the oldest possession of the abbaye de Marmoutier, granted by King Louis le Pieux, son of Charlemagne. Molineuf developed from the 11th century alongside the château de Bury, a former fortress of the counts of Blois that was for a time considered the rival of Chambord. Orchaise developed from the 11th century around a priory.
