Trémentines is a French commune situated in the département of Maine-et-Loire, in the Pays de la Loire region. Its inhabitants are called the Trémentinais and the Trémentinaises.
A little history
Two megaliths still stand on the territory of the commune, the menhir du Pré de la Chapelle and the pierre Fiche, also known as the pierre qui tourne, at the farm of Parchambault, where a tumulus is also found. In addition, 19 polished axes and four flint tools were found across the commune. Traces of two Roman roads can be found, one heading towards La Tourlandry and the second towards Vezins. In 1878, mention was made of a section paved with large granite slabs, without it having been proved that it was an ancient road.
