Treillières [tʁɛljɛʁ] is a commune in the west of France, in the département of Loire-Atlantique, in the Pays de la Loire region. It is part of historic Brittany. Its inhabitants are known as the Treilliérains.
A little history
A charter of Louis le Gros mentions the town of Treillières in 1123. In 1613, Guillaume Mouton, rector of the parish, had the parish church of Treillières rebuilt. The church was demolished and replaced by another in 1839, with the exception of the chancel, which was retained until 1895, when it was replaced. At the end of the 18th century, at the time of the creation of the French départements, the population of Treillières fluctuated at around 1,200 inhabitants.
