A little history
The site of Saint-Nazaire has been inhabited since at least the Neolithic period, as evidenced by the presence of megalithic structures such as the tumulus de Dissignac and the dolmen situated at the heart of the present-day town. Remains from the Neolithic period and the Bronze Age were found in the anse de la Ville-Halluard and in the 19th century during the construction of the first port basin at Penhoët. The dolmen des Trois Pierres indicates a human presence from prehistoric times. Saint-Nazaire is one of the locations proposed for the ancient city of Corbilo, which is thought to have been, in the 2nd century BC.
