Tréguier, the town

Tréguier covers 1.5 km², lies between 0 and 66 m above sea level and had 2,294 inhabitants in the 2023 census.

Tréguier, Landreger in Breton, is a commune and canton seat in the département des Côtes-d'Armor, in the Bretagne region, in France. Tréguier is the historic capital of the Trégor. The cathedral, narrow streets and timber-framed houses are among the characteristic features of this former episcopal city.

A little history

Tréguier originates from the subdivision of the primitive parish of ancient Armorique, Ploulandreguer, which also encompassed, beyond the territory of Tréguier, that of Minihy-Tréguier. Tugdual was consecrated bishop of Landreger around 542. He was the first bishop of an episcopal see of particular importance in Bretagne until its suppression during the French Revolution. In reality we know very little about the life of Tugdual, not even the precise date of his death, which is said to have occurred on a 30 November in 553, 559 or 564.

Selling in Tréguier

Pricing in Tréguier starts by placing your property inside the €1,550 to €2,286 band rather than on the median alone. The median describes the middle of the market; condition, floor, outdoor space and energy rating decide where in the band you sit.

With 37 sales a year, Tréguier is regular without being deep. Positioning matters more here than in a dense market, because a buyer who steps back is not immediately replaced.

Briveo values your Tréguier property from the same DVF file, keeping only sales of comparable properties closest to your address, free of charge and with no obligation, then supports the sale through to the deed.

Buying in Tréguier

Reading the €1,550 to €2,286 band is a buyer’s main tool in Tréguier. A property at the bottom is not a bargain and one at the top is not a rip-off, the band measures how different the properties are, not how well they are priced.

Acquisition costs are budgeted on top of the price, around 8 % on an existing property, around 3 % on a new one. These are orders of magnitude; the notary computes the exact amount.

The negotiation turns on the property itself and on comparable sales nearby (works, energy rating, aspect, charges).
