Pléneuf-Val-André [plenœf val ɑ̃dʁe] is a French commune situated in the département des Côtes-d'Armor, in the région of Bretagne. It is known as a family seaside resort, situated on the eastern coast of the baie de Saint-Brieuc, known as the « côte de Penthièvre ».

A little history

At the plage des Vallées, around 1925, remains of quaternary fauna were discovered in solifluction flows, notably mammoths, as well as flint flakes. Preventive excavations were carried out in 1987 on a site inhabited during the Palaeolithic period near the port de Piégu, following archaeological and geological monitoring undertaken as part of major coastal defence works and before the cliff was consolidated around 2005. This site at the foot of the cliff, beside the road (quai Célestin Bouglé) and set between two dwellings, is only the remnant of a vast deposit whose traces have been found on the foreshore.
