A little history
Archaeology has demonstrated that the earliest traces of human occupation of the site date from the Neolithic period. In the 1980s, during excavations, an adze was uncovered, along with other tools dating from the Neolithic period. The hamlet known as Moulin de Douvres is recorded as early as 855, where it is described as "in Valla dubro" (the spring in the valley). In the year 868, the first mention of a Gallo-Roman settlement, by the name of Torciacum, standing for Tauriciacum, is found, probably based on the name of a person called Tauricius with the locative suffix -acum.
