A little history
The château is mentioned as early as 1102. It controlled a bridge over the Loire which disappeared as early as the 14th century. Over the centuries it has belonged to only three families, the first lords of Sully, the family de la Trimouille and the family de Béthune. In 1218, Philippe Auguste had a keep built.
