Servian [sɛʁ.vjɑ̃] is a French commune situated in the south of the département of Hérault, in the Occitanie region. Servian is located 15 kilometres from Béziers and 63 kilometres from Montpellier. Exposed to a Mediterranean climate, it is drained by the Thongue, the Lène, the ruisseau de Rendolse, the Merdanson and by various other small watercourses.
A little history
Traces of human presence dating from the final Neolithic period (2600–1900 BC) have been found. Servian was situated near the voie domitienne, which established a link between Italy and Spain, the mountain transversal joining the Gard towards the Tarn and Aquitaine, and the third route derived from the domitienne, passing through Puissalicon and heading towards the centre of Gaul. Within this triangle, the economy was prosperous.
