Located in the south of the département, the commune is part of the small agricultural area known as the Plateaux bocagers de la Touraine méridionale, bringing together very heterogeneous environments, the bare plateau of Pontlevoy, the valley of the Cher bordered by slopes of vineyards, and aspects of gâtine beyond. Land use is marked by the importance of agricultural and natural spaces, which occupy almost the entire communal territory.
A little history
According to tradition, saint Eusice built an oratory there in the 6th century, which was spared by a flood of the river. In 531, he predicted to Childeric, king of the Franks, victory against Alamaric, king of the Visigoths, and on his return, the latter, in accordance with the vow he had made, had an abbey built on that very spot, marking the birth of the village. A mint struck local coinage in the 11th century.
