A little history
The menhir Saint Jean attests to a very ancient human occupation of the territory, dating back to the Neolithic period. Standing 8.30 metres tall, it is classified as the tenth tallest menhir in France. Now standing in isolation, this menhir was once part of a megalithic ensemble probably extending as far as the village of Neuziou. The trace of this ensemble is still attested by the presence of large stones breaking through the surface of the ground.
