Concarneau [kɔ̃.kaʁ.no] (in Breton Konk-Kerne) is a commune in the département of Finistère in the Bretagne region of France. The third largest commune in the département by population, and the chief town of a canton and an agglomération community, Concarneau, which includes the former communes of Beuzec-Conq and Lanriec, is a town situated on the Cornouaille coast in the baie de La Forêt. The town was established in the Middle Ages around the ville close situated in the estuary of the Moros.

The town of Concarneau was built and developed around the Ville close. Suburbs grew up on the mainland around this island-city. It is only recently in the history of Concarneau that the town expanded beyond its ramparts. The first traces of civilisation in Concarneau were not found in the Ville close but around the bay.
