A little history
The origins of Sandillon date from the Gallo-Roman period. The present-day commune was at that time a villa belonging to a wealthy Roman named Santillius, not far from the village of Viennavicus or Vienna Vico (Vienne-en-Val) and the Roman town of Cenabum or Aurelianum (Orléans). Over time, a hamlet developed, with Santillius gradually becoming known as Sandille. The merging of several surrounding hamlets (Allots, Savigny, Sandille, Allou...) with the village centre created the village as it exists today.
