On the shores of the English Channel, Saint-Pol-de-Léon is a former episcopal city, the historic capital of the évêché de Léon. Between the Armor and the Argoat, its rich heritage meets the sea along the north coast of Finistère and the vegetable fields.
A little history
The site of Saint-Pol was inhabited in prehistoric times, as the allée couverte de Boutouiller still bears witness, also known as the dolmen de Keranguez or de Kerivin, at the lieu-dit Tréguintin. This dolmen, the last of the Neolithic megaliths of Saint-Pol, has lost part of its prehistoric structure forming a tumulus (covered with a mound of earth and stones as at the Cairn de Barnenez) and its T-shape has become difficult to make out (entrance with a lateral passage). A chamber of 5 metres served as a burial chamber. It has been listed as a monument historique since 1909.
