A little history
The Roman road running from Amiens to Boulogne-sur-Mer, or via Agrippa de l'Océan, passed through the montagne d'Ostrohove, a district of the commune. The history of the commune of Saint-Martin-Boulogne is closely linked to that of Boulogne-sur-Mer. It owes its name to the parish and the church that served it, dedicated to saint Martin, who appears to have been the object of particular devotion among fishing sailors. This first church was situated extra-muros, relative to the fortified town of Boulogne, at the foot of the ramparts, approximately where the horseshoe of the château was later built.
