The new commune of Saint-Léger-de-Linières was created on 1 January 2019 by a prefectoral order dated 20 September 2018 from the merger of the neighbouring communes of Saint-Jean-de-Linières and Saint-Léger-des-Bois, which became délégué communes. Its administrative centre is set at the town hall of Saint-Léger-des-Bois. For the history prior to 2019, one should refer to the articles devoted to the former merged communes.
