A little history
It was the village of Saint-Barthélémy that formed the ancient nucleus of the commune. This is why the chapelle Saint-Barthélémy appears on the current coat of arms of the commune. Excavations were carried out in 1842, then in 1889 by Léon Maître, assisted by volunteer labour from neighbours for the clearance work. Indeed, around the chapel, there had been found, in addition to fragments of walls, the traces of a paved road in the field of La Garenne, a circular paved area in the field of Godard, as well as numerous Roman coins ranging from the 1st to the 3rd century of our era.
