A little history
The village was part of the seigneury of the Montmorency family in the 13th century. They held the right of high, middle and low justice there and also a right of levy on sea fish passing through the town towards Paris, a right confirmed on 11 May 1390 by the parlement de Paris. However, in 1632, Henri II de Montmorency, guilty of having conspired against King Louis XIII, was beheaded in the public square in Toulouse. His possessions passed to his sister, Charlotte-Marguerite de Montmorency, wife of Henri II de Bourbon-Condé, and then to the comte de Vienne, brigadier of the king's armies in the 18th century.
