Bezons (prononciation) is a commune in the département of Val-d'Oise, in the Île-de-France region. This commune, situated on the right bank of the Seine, has the distinction of bordering two départements, the Hauts-de-Seine and the Yvelines. It is the 312th most populous town in France.
A little history
In 1470, Bezons had twelve houses inhabited by peasants, as evidenced by the consecration in 1507 of the church dedicated to saint Fiacre, the patron saint of gardeners. In 1580, Marie Chanterel, dame de Bezons, married Claude Bazin, a physician from Champagne. The couple were the origin of the Bazin de Bezons family, ennobled by the regent Marie de Médicis in 1611. Under Louis XIV, Bezons was the property of the Bazin family. The most celebrated members of this family were the academician Claude Bazin de Bezons (1643) and his son Jacques Bazin de Bezons, maréchal de France in 1709, who took part in the final campaigns of Louis XIV.
