A little history
Until the 12th century, Cergy formed part of the royal domain. In 1120 Louis VI le Gros donated the territory to the abbaye de Saint-Denis, which was its spiritual and temporal lord until 1793. In the 15th century, during the Hundred Years' War, a battle took place at the « Brûloir ». The French, who occupied the left bank of the Oise and were short of bread, fought with the ferocity of starving men and, emerging victorious, seized the abundant provisions of the godons.
